We meet together each month to discuss progress and new discoveries we have made in our researches into our ancestors.

We share the many and varied facilities available to assist our research, both on and off the internet. Some of these are BMDs [births, marriages and death records], Census Returns [available from 1841 – 1911 + 1939] and Burial Records.

We also discuss the social and historical conditions at the relevant times and imagine what the lives of our ancestors must have been like.

Sometimes we select a particular topic for the month such as employment or travel. Some months we select one of our ancestors and do an individual profile of their life. This often leads to the realisation that we still have more research to do.

We regularly have a specialist speaker on Genealogy. She gives us a talk on an area we request such as. The Poor Law, or helps us with our ‘brick walls’ where we have got stuck and can’t find the information we need. We also help each other with these problems.

We welcome guests who wish to see if our group would suit them and we are always open to new members. It is important to be a good listener and have an interest in other peoples stories, while being willing to share ones own researches.

We meet on the last Friday afternoon of each month (except December and August) from 2-4pm.
