Bude U3A Gardening group. Wed. 6th. March.
On this kind weather day thirty-four of us arrived by 12.30 in the restaurant of Buckland Abbey National Trust garden & estate, Yelverton, Devon for our pre-ordered lunches. Good food & enjoyable catching up with friends.
We then went out in various groups & couples to explore the gardens & estate. Situated in the Tavy Valley with lovely views including two dramatic waterfalls! The Elizabethan garden, the Cider House garden, the special Wild garden, the Kitchen garden (where fruit & vegetables are grown for the restaurant), the Secret garden.
We were lucky to see many varied trees & shrubs including Camellias, Magnolias & Rhododendrons in flower & colour from other plants breaking into leaf & flower.
Also a lovely woodland circular walk including along an attractive stream going to the river Tavy with lovely views.
Back to the restaurant for drinks & to share our very happy experiences.
