Marsh Villa Gardens

On this kind-weather day, 19 of us met for our very good pre-ordered lunches at the Strand Bistro, New Inn in Par.  We were seated in the attractive conservatory attached to the Inn, overlooking lawn and trees.

A short drive back up the road took us to the Marsh Villa Gardens where we were welcomed by owners Mr. & Mrs. Stephens.  Judith gave us a very interesting talk about the history of their property.  They have lived there since 1985 when the three and a half acre garden was just a meadow which, over the years Judith has been planning and planting.

So many beautiful, varied mature trees seen in all areas of the garden. We first walked along the raised railway bank then down and back along a narrow stream with lots of wild flowers  This led us  into a circular woodland path then past the pond and bog garden with more wild flowers. The large herbaceous bed had so many attractive colourful plants.

We continued our walk, always with flowers, shrubs and trees back to a seated area where we were treated to drinks and delicious home-made cakes.  The knowledgeable and friendly Mr & Mrs Stephens joined the chat and happily answered our questions.

One of our best visited gardens!
