Bude & District U3A holds 10 OPEN MONTHLY MEETINGS a year with a Speaker. These are held at 2.30pm at the Parkhouse Centre, Bude on the 3rd Thursday of every month except October (our Annual General Meeting) and December (our Christmas Festivity).
The OPEN MONTHLY MEETINGS are free and include refreshments.

Rick Stewart FSA is the acknowledged expert on Devon’s premier metal mine having written the definitive history of the mine which was published in 2013 to considerable critical acclaim. Devon Great Consols was an extensive group of mines whose main period of operation was between 1844 and 1902, although its recorded history can be traced back to the sixteenth century and as recently as the 1980s. During the Victorian period the mine was the largest copper producer in the world and, subsequently, the largest arsenic producer.
