Gardening Group

Bude U3A Gardening group.     Wed. 5th. June ‘19.

We began a very enjoyable Gardening group meeting with nineteen of us meeting at the Merry Harriers garden centre restaurant, near Woolsery, Bideford for our delicious pre-ordered lunches. Some of us arriving before 12.30 to look round their garden & well stocked shop.

A short drive to the Hole Farm garden also near Woolsery, opened for us, where we were joined by more members so twenty-eight all together.

We were welcomed by Heather Alford the daughter of the owners. She designed & maintains these beautiful 3 acre varied garden ‘rooms’. The herbaceous borders full of so many varieties & colours. A vegetable garden & a bog garden.

Some of us also enjoyed the walk along the path beside the river Torridge with trees & wild flowers.

Back to the converted barn where we comfortably sat & enjoyed chats, drinks & a variety of delicious cakes made by Heather’s Mum.

We had been lucky with the weather as mostly sunny with only a brief shower.
